Good afternoon Elliott wave fans. I'm Dana Weeks with Market Minute.
Stocks were generally up, but closed off their highs. The Dow Utilities Average pushed to its third consecutive daily all-time high this week, the only major market average to do so. The Dow Transports were the weakest average today, closing in the red. Crude oil pushed to a new 4 month high but closed down on the day. The Dollar Index was also mildly lower.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 138 points at 25,848.
The S&P 500 closed at 2822, up 14 points.
The NASDAQ Composite closed at 7687, up 56 points.
1,661 stocks closed up while 1,196 closed down. TRIN was .97
E-mini S&P futures topped out at 2836.50 had a low of 2817.25 and closed at 2829.75. E-mini Nasdaq futures hit a high of 7361, a low of 7294 and closed at 7343.25.
T-bond futures were up 23 tics at 146-07.
The US Dollar index was down a fraction of a point late in the session, trading at 96.58.
Gold and silver were both up today, with gold up 6.50 at 1301.60. Silver was up 12 cents at 1529.
